West Portal Counseling’s offices are currently closed for the duration of the shelter in place order. However, all of our members are available by phone, Zoom and other internet services to address your mental health concerns. The pandemic has had a distressing effect on individuals, couples and families. We remain available to our community for consultation, counseling and psychotherapy. The risks of viral infection triggers unusual anxieties. Sheltering in place isolates individuals, increasing loneliness and depression. Extended sheltering can create tensions and conflicts with couples. Economic insecurity and an uncertain future can hamper normal coping skills and leave us feeling helpless and worried. Please feel welcome to call one of our associates with your concerns for a professional consultation.
Our clients benefit from our integrated approach, once only available at hospitals and training facilities. We combine the unique training and experiences of psychology, psychiatry, social work and counseling under one roof.
Our professional services include such specialties as sandplay therapy, expressive arts therapy, psychiatric medications, family therapy, career consultations, Jungian analytic psychotherapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. These specialties are tailored to the special needs of children and adolescents as well as adults, couples and families.
We work directly with schools and employee assistance programs when appropriate for a client. Many of our counselors are teachers and consultants at local institutes and campuses for the next generation of mental health professionals.
